A Couple of Adjustments, as We Figure Out this Blog Thing

July 25, 2008

Starting a blog means figuring out what works and what doesn’t.  So here’s what we know so far:

  • Including posts about trailers and interesting bits of industry information seems to be a good idea.  We get all excited over such things, and we do enjoy sharing it.
  • Sometimes, time restrictions cause conflict and our choices for what we said we’ll watch vs. what we actually watch will cause a review choice to change.  While we still have “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford” in the queue, it won’t be reviewed as our first joint review.  It will be, instead, “Lars and the Real Girl”.  “Assassination” will come up, certainly, as soon as we find 2 hours and 40 minutes to sit down and really watch it.
  • The use of catchy titles for our reviews [“Lunch Matinee”, etc.] will be dropped.  We’ve come to realize that when we watch the films isn’t terribly important as long as we’re writing about them.  We’ll be making those adjustments thusly and never speaking of it again.  “Gut Reaction” will stay, to show the difference between a full-fledged review and one we’ve gotten typed up just after viewing a movie.
